DAILY PRAYER

The Lord's Prayer

Let's meditate today on the Lord's Prayer!

“Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be your name.
Your kingdom come,
your will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread,
and forgive us our debts,
as we also have forgiven our debtors.
And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.”

For yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever. Amen.”

Matthew 6:9-13 (ESV)

Jesus is teaching His disciples how to pray.  He gives them a template for prayer.

  • Adoration and Reverence

    • Begin prayer by addressing God with intimacy (“Our Father” sometimes I call him daddy) and awe, acknowledging His holiness and supreme authority. This sets a tone of worship and respect, prioritizing God’s glory.

  • Submission to God’s Will

    • Align your desires with God’s purposes, praying for His kingdom to advance and His will to be fulfilled personally and globally.  This reflects surrender and trust in His plan.

  • Petition for Daily Needs

    • Request provision for immediate, practical needs with humility and dependence, trusting God for sustenance without anxiety about the future.

  • Seeking Forgiveness and Reconciliation

    • Confess your sins, seek God’s forgiveness, and commit to forgiving others. This emphasizes repentance and relational restoration as integral to prayer.

  • Protection from Temptation and Evil

    • Ask for spiritual guidance and protection, acknowledging human vulnerability to sin and the need for God’s strength against evil forces or trials.

Pray. Tell your heavenly father what is on your heart today!
