My husband and I were having a debate today. The question is, how do we bring you truth that surpasses all the denominational barriers, while holding strong to Biblical Truth? A quick Google search tells me there are 200 denominations in the US, and 45,000 globally. Is it pure insanity, or is it a testimony to our sinful nature, humanity’s pride (our desire to do it our way)? So, which denomination is correct. Who is going to heaven and who is being fooled by religious dogma?
Let's explore. Lets look at the most famous verse in the Bible, John 3:16
For God so loved the world, that He gave His only Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life.
Roman's 10:9-10. If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.
These verses give us a solid foundation, The Truth.
. God loves us.
. He loves everyone on the whole wide world.
. He gave us His Son (not a son but His only begotten Son)
. He gave us the free will to believe or not believe
( Believe means to accept as true, be sure it's true, to have confidence.)
. We must declare that we believe His life, death an resurrection
. We must then make Him Lord of our lives
. In Jesus, we will not die
. We will have eternal, everlasting life.
We can argue until we reach eternity all the other doctrinal issues of our faith but these 2 verses tell us the truth about salvation and how to get to heaven. We must believe in God, we must believe He sent His only Son who died and was resurrected that we could be redeemed. We don't only accept him as redeemer/savior but make Him Lord of our lives.
The rest is a journey of faith, a journey of learning, a journey of obedience. Which, I pray you will allow me to explore with you as we walk on this journey together. |
